Benedict Lovering
Benedict Lovering is a painter, illustrator and educator based in Gloucestershire. His work explores the relationship between light, atmosphere and landscape, drawing inspiration from the woodlands, valleys and farmland of the Cotswolds and South West England.
After studying Illustration at Falmouth University and the University of the Arts London. He later trained in classical drawing and painting, including plein-air practice, at London Fine Art Studios.
Painting outdoors now sits at the centre of his practice. Working directly from the landscape, Benedict responds to changing light, weather and season, using plein-air studies as the foundation for larger studio paintings. Rather than simply recording a place, he seeks to capture fleeting moments when familiar landscapes become quietly remarkable — sunlight through woodland, mist settling into a valley, or wildflowers glowing in shadow.
Alongside his painting practice, Benedict teaches art in schools and leads painting workshops for adults.
Benedict's Solo Show 'Under the Canopy' runs 21 October - 7 November 2026.
