Echoes of the Everyday:
A Contemporary Still Life
20 June - 28 June 2025
MADE in the Pewsey Vale is excited to introduce Katie Stanley's exhibition Echoes of the Everyday.
Katie has previously exhibited with MADE for Collective Shows, and her paintings are always immediately snapped up.
Echoes Of The Everyday is a collection of work that celebrates the colour and beauty of simple objects around us. Katie genuinely wants to create art for the home that is versatile and affordable. Her paintings would add extra 'oomph' and interest to any room, and she looks forward to sharing them.
Katie first picked up a paintbrush in an adventurous attempt to fill the empty walls of her Somerset home with original, affordable art. Although she had been working as a picture framer previously, and had always been a creative at heart, she had no formal art training and no idea that fine art painting was to become such a huge part of her life.
Since then, Katie has spent many long evenings after the children are in bed honing her painting skills across a variety of mediums and subject matters, and has settled on a preferred medium of oil paints. Katie loves the slow-drying flexibility of oils that allows her to blend and play with the texture of the paint as she works. The majority of Katie's artwork is carried out in one sitting, ‘alla prima’, which she feels encourages her to paint in a loose, energetic style. It also helps prevent the ever-tempting desire to over-work the piece.
