Emily Matcham is a Somerset based artist, painting mainly with oils. Her paintings are almost always done ‘en plein air’ as she finds it easier to see the true, rich colours of the landscape that way.

Emily is interested in trying to capture a memory of a particular place, long after it has been left. She is inspired by the surrounding countryside in South Somerset and loves to go off in search of new painting spots locally, and where possible, in Cornwall and Herefordshire too. She is currently working on a series of paintings based along the River Parrett in Langport.

Emily has a degree in Illustration from Falmouth University.
