Lucy de Roeper
Lucy de Roeper is a British artist working primarily across painting and drawing. Her practice begins with observational drawing, often made in gardens, parks and dramatic landscapes in the UK and abroad. These drawings become the starting point for layered paintings in which imagery moves between observation, memory and abstraction.
Lucy is interested in how landscape becomes internalised through experience, remembered not as a fixed image but as sensation, atmosphere and emotional residue. Gesture, rhythm and colour are central to her work, with layers of paint built through reworking, erasure and accumulation. The resulting surfaces hold a tension between control and release, allowing forms to emerge, dissolve and reappear.
Drawing remains present within her paintings as a trace of movement and thought, creating a visual language that connects landscape, memory and the body.
Lucy holds a Diploma in Fine Art from City & Guilds of London Art School and is currently completing her MA Fine Art there.
Lucy's Solo Exhibition runs from 15 April - 2nd May 2027.
