Victoria Calder
Victoria Calder is a West Berkshire-based painter whose vibrant, semi-abstract paintings are inspired by the landscapes, seascapes and everyday details of the world around her. Born on a farm in rural Perthshire, Victoria retains a strong connection to the wild landscapes of Scotland, alongside influences from her travels and the countryside close to her home in Kintbury.
Working predominantly in oils and acrylics, Victoria embraces an instinctive and exploratory approach to painting. Loose, expressive marks and a joyful use of colour give her work a distinctive energy, whether she is painting a remote landscape, a windswept seascape or a collection of everyday objects that have caught her eye.
Victoria paints daily from her cottage kitchen studio, working outdoors whenever possible and developing paintings from sketches and photographs. Her refusal to be confined by a particular subject or medium keeps each new painting an adventure, with the overlooked and unexpected often providing the starting point.
Victoria is taking part in a Group Show Catalyst! in early 2027.
