Works on Paper
11 - 20 June 2026
Works on Paper brings together a collection of prints and paper-based works shaped by Henny's fascination with plants, organic processes, and the quiet cycles of the natural world.
Henny Tate is a planting designer and artist based in the Wiltshire countryside. She comes from a family of creatives that share a deep love of nature and wild places. Trained at The English Gardening School based at the Chelsea Physic Garden, her planting has been described as naturalistic and romantic and has an emphasis on creating interest in the garden throughout the seasons. Inspired to record nature in a different media she started to make ink studies of plants as a way of ‘getting to know’ them and as an opportunity to dwell on their intricacies and beauty.
The plants in these works are drawn as they are found in the wild, observed within their wider environment and valued for both their form and their function. Following them through the seasons, the work seeks to give equal attention to every stage of their lives, finding beauty not only in bloom, but also in growth, seed, and decline.
Handmade paper plays an important role in the work itself. Its texture, fibres, and irregularities carry the presence of the human hand, creating a subtle connection between human making and the processes of nature.
