MADE are thrilled to introduce a new artist to the Collective: Julieann Worrall Hood. A multidisciplinary practitioner with experience across a diverse range of creative projects and public commissions, her work includes collaborations with Denver Museum of Childhood, Chanel, Conran, and Coldplay.
Tattooing the Tuba is an exhibition of new work by Julieann Worrall Hood, bringing together sculpture, drawing, poetry and music in an intimate meditation on memory, grief and transformation. There will be a tattooed tuba, whilst also exploring marking breath, inscribing sound and holding the intangible.
Julieann shared drawings and fragments of text with composer Jess Faber, who translated them into a score. Poet Nick Hood wrote the poem Marine Parade for her in response to loss and to the beauty that can surface in dark moments. British Deaf Association BSL Poet Laureate Ishtiaq Hussain created a visual interpretation of part of the poem, which she has reworked into layered drawings. Meaning moves between each art form, from stone to page to breath to sign.
Artworks will be available online from Friday, 15th May.
