Wild Solace
6 -14 March 2026
Kate Lowe presents ‘Wild Solace’ at Made in the Pewsey Vale, from 6-14 March 2026. An uplifting
exhibition of paintings that celebrates colour, energy, and place. The exhibition includes Lowe’s ‘en
plein air’ sketches alongside her finished pieces, giving insight into her working practice. Lowe paints
from the heart using a confident colour palette which radiates joy, driven by a profound connection to
the landscapes that inspire her.
Lowe’s process begins ‘en plein air’, sketching in watercolour and mixed media. These studies are not
just references but visual reminders of the wind, light and experiences of the landscape. Back in her
studio, these impressions evolve into larger, more abstracted works that explore mood rather than
exact representation. Working in oil, acrylic and mixed media, Lowe often works to music, moving
energetically between canvases to create bold marks and different textures. Her paintings capture
those fleeting moments when everything feels still, yet vivid and wholly alive.
‘Wild Solace’ pairs her original outdoor sketches with her finished studio pieces, offering insight into how her initial responses become expressive artworks. Works include ‘Light from the Heavens’, ‘Spring Green’,‘Blue Beyond and ‘Sun on my Face’, which capture the essence of Salisbury Plain, the Pewsey Vale and sweeping Wessex Downs, bringing the wild character of these familiar settings vibrantly to life. Together, they reveal an artist deeply rooted in place, painting with both intuition and joy.
