Landscapes: the West Country and Italy

23 October - 1 November 2025

Christopher Riisager is an oil painter, printmaker and sculptor, born in Oxford, who graduated from Goldsmiths’ College School of Art in 1984, notable teachers being Adrian Ryan, Joan Key and Leonard McComb.

Since 1987, Riisager has lived and worked in the landscapes he knows and loves in Wiltshire and Dorset.  Influenced by the tonal studies of the nineteenth century; the French classicism of Corot, the English stylishness of William Nicholson,  “I would like to imagine myself producing paintings that would be, like plain food, enjoyable every day; neither hot nor cold, sweet or sharp, happy or sad.”

Christopher lives near Shaftesbury, Dorset.

Christopher's forthcoming exhibition 'Landscapes: the West Country and Italy' runs from 23 October - 1st November.

We are also delighted to share the catalogue of Christopher's paintings below. This also includes work that is not part of the exhibition, but are available. Please note, there will be a selection of sculptures in the gallery which are not currently part of the catalogue.
