Spring Collective: AFRESH!

Group Show

3 April 2026 - 11 April 2026

With inspiration from Philip Larkin's poem 'The Trees', we are delighted to present our Spring Collective: AFRESH! With artwork from 26 artists, this exhibition celebrates the long awaited spring.

The Trees (1974)

The trees are coming into leaf
Like something almost being said;
The recent buds relax and spread,
Their greenness is a kind of grief.

Is it that they are born again
And we grow old? No, they die too.
Their yearly trick of looking new
Is written down in rings of grain.

Yet still the unresting castles thresh
In fullgrown thickness every May.
Last year is dead, they seem to say,
Begin afresh, afresh, afresh.

Philip Larkin (1974)

Larkin's poem is about renewal, the passage of time and the contrast between nature's cycle and human mortality. We are keen to explore these ideas within this exhibition presented by the MADE Collective.
